PREPARE WITH A CLEARER PICTURE

Plan your AHCA application.

A clear application starts with the right provider category, current forms, and a realistic preparation plan.

Explore the four preparation stages
01

Identify your application

Start with your provider type, ownership, services, and Florida location. Identify whether you are opening, renewing, changing ownership, relocating, or reviewing a clinic exemption.

02

Organize the requirements

Use the current provider-specific checklist. Review ownership disclosures, applicable background screening, and any financial schedules or director documentation. Discuss financial preparation with your CPA where needed.

03

Choose the submission route

Confirm the filing method for your application. Keep submission records and track requests for missing information, including the deadline stated in each notice.

04

Prepare for the next stage

Review any provider-specific survey or inspection requirements. Plan renewal reminders and required updates when your ownership, location, or operations change.

Official AHCA sources

Reviewed October 16, 2026. Use current guidance for your provider and application type.

Requirements vary by provider and application. SDC’s consultation identifies the relevant administrative support; AHCA reviews and decides applications.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Before your consultation.

Which healthcare businesses does SDC support?

SDC supports healthcare clinics, nurse registries, and adult day care centers with licensing and business preparation. Sleep-center setup and licensing questions are reviewed according to the center’s operating model. SDC also assists with massage establishment applications through the Florida Department of Health and local business registrations.

What should I prepare for a licensing consultation?

Bring your organization type, proposed Florida location, planned services, and current application status. Note any renewal date, proposed ownership or location change, and outstanding AHCA correspondence. SDC uses these details to discuss relevant administrative support. Keep sensitive records out of the initial inquiry.

Could my clinic qualify for an exemption?

An exemption is a separate question from applying for a clinic license. Review the applicable criteria and documentation for your ownership and operating model. AHCA provides a clinic-exemption application pathway; do not assume that an exemption transfers to a new owner or location.

When is Proof of Financial Ability to Operate needed?

The requirement depends on the provider and application type. AHCA’s Health Care Clinic guidance identifies Proof of Financial Ability to Operate for initial and change-of-ownership applications. Other provider categories have their own forms and instructions. Review the required schedules and professional sign-off with your CPA; financial-report preparation is a separately defined scope.

What is an AHCA omission notice?

An omission notice identifies missing application information or documents. Review every requested item, record the response deadline, and retain evidence of what you submit. The Health Care Clinic application warns that an incomplete response can lead to withdrawal from review.

Can every AHCA application be filed online?

No. AHCA’s current Online Licensing System guidance covers initial, renewal, and certain changes during licensure, but excludes change-of-ownership and change-of-controlling-interest applications from online submission. Confirm the current filing route and authorization requirements for your provider type before submitting.

Can SDC support a PIP clinic?

Yes. SDC provides administrative licensing, exemption-documentation, and startup support for Florida healthcare clinics, including PIP clinics. Start with your ownership, services, location, and billing model. A healthcare attorney should resolve legal eligibility questions; AHCA determines licensing outcomes.
